Bawadi shopping mall in Al Ain

The Bawadi Mall is a large shopping center in Al Ain city, which is part of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Shops started opening in March-April 2009 with the official opening on Thursday 30 April 2009. The Carrefour Hypermarket opened in January 2009. The Al Ain Bawadi Mall is unrelated to the Bawadi Mall in Dubai planned as part of the Bawadi Dubailand project.

• GLA 110,000 sq meters (1,184,000 sq ft), total area 145,000 sq m (or 140,000 sq m in some press releases), over 400 stores according to Bawadi Mall website. Slightly larger than the Oasis Mall in Dubai.
• 02 May 2009 press release stated total area was 140,000 sq m, and number of shops was "more than 380 retail outlets".
• Opening hours 0900-0000 (midnight).
• Location on Meyzad Road on the outskirts of Al Ain.
• Other shops include Ace Hardware, BHS, Centrepoint, Daiso, Etihad Holidays, H & M, Homes 'R' Us Al Ain, Kotton, Magrudys Bookshop, Mango, Marks & Spencer (their 7th UAE store), Max Fashions, New Look, Paris Gallery, Rasasi Perfumes, Toys 'R' Us, Zara.
• Fun City family entertainment area (10,000 sq m) with machines that go bleep a lot, a bowling alley, rollerskating rink, go-kart track.
• Movie theatre complex with a Gold Class and 7 normal cinemas, including Digital Cinema and RealD 3D technology.
• Bowling alley (16 lanes).
• Roller Coaster in the Fun City area.
• Fun Ski Village also in the FunCity area with an ice skating rink.
• Food court and outdoor restaurants.
• Grand Cinemas 8 movie theatre complex with a VIP theatre.
• Bawadi Souq, Al Qaws Souq, and the Heritage Village with traditional and cultural wares.
• Bawadi Mall developer Nael & Bin Harmal Investment Company LLC, Nael & Bin Harmal Group.
• Financed by Emirates NBD bank.
• Soft opening during April 2009 (with footfall of 360,000 people for the month), official opening Thursday 30 April 2009.

Bawadi Mall Ice Skating Rink

• 25 Aug 2012 - The Bawadi Mall ice rink has replaced the artificial ice with real ice. Area is 600 sq meters (not 2,000 sq m as previously reported, or it shrunk) (press release).
• Ice Rink opened, area 2000 sq meters (about 21,500 sq feet). Capacity of 200 skaters. Information from Al Ain Times 15 October 2009. An artificial ice rink.
