Bus routes between Dubai and Sharjah

List of inter-emirate public bus services for Sharjah to and from Dubai, timetables, schedules, and routes. Services are operated by the Dubai RTA and the Sharjah RTA (SRTA).

Dubai RTA route numbers are E301, E302, E303, E304, E305, E306 for daytime services, and night bus E307.

Sharjah transport authority or corporation (SRTA, STC, STS, KGL, Mowasalat, not Mowsalat) bus routes to Dubai are route 113 from Rolla Sq to Rashidiya, 308 from Rolla Sq to Jebel Ali, and route 313 from Rolla Sq to Dubai Airport Terminal 2. The Sharjah Airport to Dubai route 111 was cancelled (date unknown).

Air Arabia also operates a bus service between Sharjah Airport and Dubai (and other emirates) but is restricted to Air Arabia passengers only.

City Sightseeing operates hoponhopoff bus tours of Dubai and Sharjah. If you buy a 48 hour ticket (not the 24 hr ticket) for a tour in one emirate, it includes the bus tours in the other emirate, and a free shuttle bus (runs at 2 hr intervals) for ticketholders is provided between Deira City Centre and Sharjah Central Souk.

Updates to Sharjah Dubai bus routes

• Date unknown: Sharjah Airport to Dubai bus no longer operating (was announced in 2010).
• 01 Aug 2017 (RTA): Route E400 Union MS to Ajman fare increase to AED 12 (from AED 10), and notice says "This route will not serve any of the existing bus stops in Sharjah in both directions." Previously the bus stopped at Al Jubail Bus Station and several other locations in Sharjah.
• 26 Jun 2016: Sharjah RTA announced a new intercity bus route 313 from Rolla Square bus station to Dubai Airport Terminal 2 (DXB T2), fare AED 15. Operating times 0600-0100.
• 11 Apr 2016 (press release): New intercity bus route E301 from Stadium metro station in Dubai to new Al Tawuun bus station in Sharjah. Start date might be 15 Apr 2016 (not clear from press release, but other new Dubai Metro feeder bus routes announced start on that date).
• 05 May 2015: Dubai RTA announced five additional pick up points in Sharjah for intercity routes E307 and E307A from Al Jubail Bus Station to Dubai:
  • One on King Faisal St, near Jumbo Electronics. Four on Al Wahda St (Al Ittihad Rd): Sharjah City Centre, Subway, Safeer Mall, and Ansar Mall.
  • Update Jul 2017: more stops appear to have been added - Al Wahda Center (both directions); and ADNOC and Old Gold Souk on King Faisal Rd (only going to Jubail station, not from)?
  • Gulf News report May 2015 also said "there are two routes operated by Mowasalat Sharjah that connect with Al Quoz and Ibn Battuta Mall, Jebel Ali." However there is only one Mowasalat intercity route to Jebel Ali with a stop in Al Quoz, and it does not stop at Ibn Battuta Mall.
• 12 Feb 2015 (press release): More buses for Sharjah RTA (SRTA, STS) inter-city routes, 10 in Mar 2015, 39 by end 2015. Route 113 Jubail to Rashidya fare AED 10, frequency every 30 mins. Route 308 Jubail to Al Quoz and Jebel Ali fare AED 10, frequency every 30 mins.
• 08 Mar 2014: E303 route frequency increase. Was every 10 mins, new frequency not given.
• Feb-May 2014 - route updates, schedule changes, and fare increase to AED 10.
• 18 Nov 2013 - the RTA has started making the use of Nol cards compulsory for payment on intercity buses they operate, starting with Dubai to Sharjah, but from Sharjah to Dubai it is still possible to buy tickets with cash. According to a Gulf News report of comments by an RTA official, Nol cards will become compulsory on all UAE intercity bus routes by Jan or Feb 2014.
• 29 Oct 2013 (KT): More buses used on STC route 113 from Jubail to Al Qusais and Rashidiya metro station, but details of frequency increase not given.
• 25 Jun 2013 - payment on RTA inter-city buses between Dubai and Sharjah can be made with Nol cards, already in use on the Dubai Metro, and bus transport within the Dubai emirate.

Feb-May 2014 updates (exact dates not supplied)

An almost 24hr bus service between Sharjah and Dubai operates on route E306 between Al Jubail and Al Ghubaibah bus staions - hourly departures between 0100 and 0400, no service at 0500 but E303 to Union MS and E303A to Sabkha BS start at 0500 (or 0530 on Fridays).

• *RTA intercity buses do not stop at some or all bus stops marked on route maps? Unconfirmed comments, might be an inconsistency dependent on driver mood. There are a number of anecdotal stories of bus and taxi drivers in the UAE not stopping at bus stops or when expected to, or refusing to accept passengers for no obviously acceptable reason. Report them to the RTA is the best way to improve the situation.
• 02 May 2014: The Sharjah RTA fare increased from AED 7 to AED 10 on the 113 route to Rashidiya Metro Station. The AED 15 fare for Jubail to Jebel Ali remains unchanged.
• 01 May 2014: Fare increased to AED 10 on all RTA bus routes between Dubai and Sharjah. Nol card must be used on RTA buses from Dubai to Sharjah. Cash payment still possible on RTA buses from Sharjah to Dubai (not confirmed)?
• 30 Apr 2014 (Gulf News): Dr Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of the Dubai RTA Public Transport Agency, said "We are enhancing the service on Dubai-Sharjah routes and doubling our capacity. There will be more buses, more routes and more stops between the two emirates." Details not given. Service frequency apparently increased to every 15 mins on some or all routes but details not provided and bus schedules supplied by the RTA do not appear to have been updated.
• Mar 2014: Free wifi internet available on Sharjah Transport Corporation (STC - renamed as the Sharjah-RTA) intercity buses between Sharjah and Dubai. Dubai RTA intercity buses have had free wifi since 2013?
• Mar 2014: some start times changed to 0530, 0600, 0630, 0700. Some finish times changed to 2200.

1. Traffic congestion in Sharjah, and between Dubai and Sharjah, means journey times can vary substantially. Allow journey time of at least 1½-2+ hours during peak traffic hours: 0600-1000 SHJ>DXB except Fridays, and 1400-2000 DXB>SHJ daily.
2. Rolla Square not the same as Al Jubail Bus Station (Al Jebail), but is nearby: 20 min walk or 10 min drive by car, taxi, or bus. Bus routes 1, 3, 14X (from, not to Rolla Sq) stop at Jubail Fish Market near Jubail bus station. Bus routes 99, 112, 308 stop at Jubail bus station (to and from Rolla Sq). Bus route 114 stops at Jubail bus station (going to, not from Rolla Sq). Bus route 308 also stops at Jubail bus station going to Rolla Sq, but not from (which is strange for that route, maybe we have made an error reading the bus map).
3. Friday timings different: E303 Fri from Sharjah starts 0530. E303A from Sharjah starts 0530. E304 Fri from Dubai starts 0700. E307 Fri from Dubai starts 0655, E307 Fri from Sharjah stars 0700. E307A Fri from Abu Hail first bus 1130, last bus 2230. E307A Fri from Sharjah first bus 1210, last bus 2310.

5. Fares on non-RTA routes: 111, 113 - AED 10 to and from Dubai. Update May 2014 bus departure times from Sharjah are every 30 mins at xx:15 and xx:45.

7. E308 Sharjah-Jebel Ali route no longer operating? Is not in Mar 2014 list of RTA intercity routes but no cancellation notice seen. However, Mowasalat (Sharjah bus operator) has a route 308 from Sharjah to Al Quoz and Jebel Ali. Update Apr 2017, RTA bus route list does not have E308.

30 December 2013 (updated routes from Jul 2013?)

• *Fares increased from AED 5 to AED 7 each way. Increased to AED 10 May 2014.
• *All routes operating times changed to 0500-2400 (5am to midnight). Changed again Mar 2014.
• Additional new routes: E303A, E307A.
• Changed routes:
  • E303 departs Union MS, not Baniyas Sq (almost the same place though).
  • E306 frequency changed.
  • E307 departure point changed from Muraggabat to Deira City Center.
• Deleted routes: E301, E302, E305, E308, E309, E311?
• Night service E306 cancelled?

• KGL Sharjah Transport some intercity bus routes start point moved from Al Rolla Square to new bus station adjacent Al Rolla Public Park - routes 112 (Ajman), 113 (Dubai - Al Ghusais, Sonapur, Rashidiya), and 114 (Hamriyah Free Zone).
• KGL intercity buses operate from Sharjah city to Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Al Ain, Dhaid, Dibba Al Hisn, Dubai, Fujairah, Hamriya Free Zone, Kalba, Khorfakkan, Madam, Masafi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain.

RTA Dubai cancelled three Dubai-Sharjah bus routes, effective from 01 Feb 2011.

• Route 301 (E301) from Al Rashidiya Metro Station to Al Jubail bus station in Sharjah.
• Route 308 (E308) from Jebel Ali Metro Station to Jubail bus station.
• Route 309 (E309) from Al Quoz Industrial Area (Al Qouz) and Al Waha Village to Jubail bus station.

1. Journey lengths from RTA information, and anything less than 1 hour is probably only realistic on Fridays or late at night. Allow up to double the given times during the day, especially during peak hours (0600-1000 Sharjah to Dubai, and 1600-2100 Dubai to Sharjah).
2. Bus station name. Rolla Square might also be to and from Al Jubail bus station (both names seen on RTA timetables).
3. On Fridays and public holidays, bus service doesn't start until about 1500-1600 (3pm-4pm) for E307, 0700-0800 (7am-8am) for E309, and is less frequent than Saturday to Thursday.

• Some destination names have a variety of spellings eg Al Ghusais (Gusais, Qusais, AlGhusais, AlQusais), Karama (AlKarama, Al Karamah, Krama), Ittihad (Itihad, Etihad, Ettihad), Al Jubail (AlJubail, Jubil, Jubayl), Jebel Ali (Jabal Ali), Ghubaiba (Gubaiba, Ghubayba, Gubayba, Gubiba, Ghubiba, Ghubaibah, Gubaibah, etc), Baniyas (Bani Yas).
• E311 bus route from Dubai to Sharjah launched 01 November 2008, timings from 0400-2330 or 1600-2330 Sat-Thu, and 0700-2330 on Fridays and public holidays with frequency every 20 minutes (RTA press release said 4pm start but might be a typo - these buses would start off Al Qusais Station to Al Jubail Station at 04.00 pm and the service would continue up to 11.30 pm, from Saturday to Thursday). Timetable not supplied or found.
