• Aldar Properties announced in a 17 May 2010 press release that a Géant Hypermarket would open in the Yas Mall on Yas Island.
• Opening date expected to be late 2012 (which might mean late 2013 or 2014 after usual construction delays). Update (04 Jun 2013 press release): Yas Mall opening date announced as 26 Mar 2014, presumably that includes the Geant store.
• Geant hypermarket area of over 16,000 square meters with over 65,000 differnt products in stock.
• Product range will include butchery, cosmetics, delicatessen, electronic goods, fashion wear (well as much as you can call it fashion if buying from a supermarket), French bakery products, frozen foods, groceries, household items and accessories, jewellery, perfumes, rotisserie with ready to eat hot meals, shoes, seafood market, sporting goods, textiles, and more. Much the same as the Dubai Geant.
• A French café, Le Bistro, will be part of the store.
• Pork products probably won't be available - you'll have to visit a Geant in France for your sausages and salami.
