- Tecom Investments was established in 2005 and is part of the Dubai Holding group of companies. In 2011, TECOM revenue was $1.6 billion (AED 5.9 bn), growing at an annual rate of about 7% (source Forbes Middle East).
- Tecom has several business sectors, divisions, and subsidiaries, including the TECOM Free Zone.
- The Tecom Free Zone is divided into several business parks, which are in 4 clusters or groups: Education, ICT, Media, Science. Business parks are grouped in each category in organisational terms, not necessarily geographically. There are about 4,500 companies operating in the Tecom business parks division (information date not provided, might be 2011).
TECOM community district
TECOM also refers to a residential, commercial, and retail area of Dubai with tower blocks and skyscrapers containing apartments, hotels, shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, offices, etc.

Tamdeen services used by TECOM Investment developments, also by other organisations.

Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority
More commonly known as Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA). Established in the year 2000 (29 January 2000?) by Law No. 1 of 2000 issued by the ruler of Dubai, and owned by the Dubai Government. DTMFZA operates and governs the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM).
DTMFZA activities include
- Management and approval of free zone company registrations in the TECOM FZ.
- Regulator of TECOM FZ procedures and activities.
- Organizer of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
